This is a new glaze combination for the Frozen Pond glazing technique, which requires nine layers of glaze: three base coat layers, three coats of a flux glaze and then three layers of a top coat glaze, all applied to bisque-fired stoneware clay. Then the piece is fired to 1230°C to vitrify the clay.
Each Frozen Pond plate is unique, with no pattern exactly the same, making this ideal for a special centre-piece that will be a talking point or as the perfect gift for someone.
This plate is 26.5cm x 26.5cm x 1.5cm.
Credit to Kathy Maguire, in the US, for pioneering this technique.
